February 4 is World Cancer Day, a global initiative led by Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) that aims to unite organizations, governments and individuals in the fight against cancer. The World Cancer Day was first observed in 2000 at the World Summit Against Cancer which was held in Paris. UICC founded the World Cancer Day to support the goals of the World Cancer Declaration. Although not an official declared by the United Nations, World Cancer Day is nonetheless an important means of spreading awareness of the disease around the world and encourages prevention, early detection, and treatment. The main goal of the World Cancer Day is to reduce the burden caused by the deadly disease. The World Cancer Day 2017 has a theme, “We can. I can”. The campaign was created to encourage all to contribute on cancer control.
